How to Write an Argumentative Essay Topic

How to Write an Argumentative Essay TopicArgumentative essay topics that try to connect with students is what is called to most people a counter argument. It's a way to find points that are supporting your own views and to counter the other side.Another important element of an argumentative essay topic is context. You can't argue for something in the abstract without context. Without it, you're just making arguments and nothing more.A persuasive essay needs strong facts and convincing arguments. But it also needs context. For instance, if you were debating about the merits of gas for electric cars over gasoline, and your opponent was using the same numbers as you to support their viewpoint, you wouldn't know how to respond. Without the context, you'd be just making arguments without any support in reality. The 'burden of proof' is a concept borrowed from the logic game of Risk and basically means that if you assume that your opponent believes something without any evidence to support that belief, or simply does not understand the topic, you are in a better position than them. If you believe something without any factual basis, your opponent does not have to provide a counter to your claim. But, if they do, you must then provide evidence to support your claim. If your argument is truly persuasive, and you successfully use context, you will have gotten your point across.Argumentative essay topics can go one of two ways. You can either strengthen your argument by using well known, established facts, or you can contradict what your opponent has to say.Often times, this is done with facts. To make your point, you need to establish that your opponent doesn't actually believe what they're saying. It's simply taking their words and making them agree with you.Another way to counteract what your opponent is saying is to use your own words against them. If they say that gas is better for your environment, and you say that they're being inconsistent, you're defending the en vironment. You're doing this to show that they are being disingenuous.Something else you can do is to put your opponent into a group or association that will be against their viewpoint. If you can accomplish this, it will be far more difficult for them to fight back.
